2008 Self-Employment or Small Business Start-up Award
 
Each year the Venture Club of Phoenix awards a grant to a female business owner in need of funds to start or expand her own business. 
 
To qualify for these funds, applicants must demonstrate they have:
1.      A viable business plan (must submit a copy to be considered)
2.      Sought out and/or attended preliminary training or education on how to start a business (e.g. Self Improvement Loan Fund’s program, Maricopa Community College)
3.      An explicit need for the available funds and the ability to articulate how the funds will make a difference in their business
4.      Taken significant steps in establishing her business (website, registered name, seeking technical assistance).
5.      A commitment to improving her own life, as well as the lives of others through the business
 
To apply, send your business plan, as well as a typed response (no more than 3 pages) detailing how you meet criteria #2-5 above.
 
The submission deadline is May 30, 2008. All nominees will be notified of the status of their application by Friday, June 6th. The winner will be invited to attend a recognition dinner on Tuesday, June 16, 2008. The awarded funds must be used to purchase specific equipment, materials, supplies or services.
